Coil Cleaning in Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona

Coil cleaning is a must for peak efficiency of your HVAC system.  Both the indoor and outdoor coils must be serviced to ensure they are in top working order.

The air you breathe passes through the indoor coil in your HVAC system, so you want it to be fresh and pure. The indoor coil, also known as the evaporator coil or the "cold" coil, provides indoor cooling for your home by absorbing heat from the indoor air that is blown over by the air handler's fan.

It works in concert with the condenser coil, or outdoor coil, which rejects the heat as a fan blows outside air over the surface. It is essential to keep your coils in top working order for maximum HVAC efficiency, which will improve your indoor air quality and lower your utility bills. Our trained technicians from Affirmative Air Conditioning have the products, manpower and expertise to clean both coils and keep your HVAC in pristine condition at your home or office in Phoenix & Scottsdale, Arizona.

Why Dirty Coils Cost You Money

A coil covered in dirt and grime cannot supply proper heat transfer. That will force your unit to work harder, leading to unnecessary wear-and-tear issues and higher utility bills. It is estimated that equipment operating with dirty coils use up to 37% more energy than those with clean coils. The cooling capacity of a dirty system, on the other hand, can be reduced by as much as 30%.

Of particular concern is the evaporator coil, or indoor coil, which helps determine the quality of your indoor air. If not properly maintained, the moisture around the indoor coil can be fouled by contaminants such as pollen, dust and debris, making it a breeding ground for bacteria and mold.

Dirty coils also increase operating pressure and temperatures. That combination can break down the lubricant in your compressor and create equipment failure. A failed compressor will prevent your HVAC unit from cooling and trigger a substantial repair bill.

Different Ways to Clean Your Coils

Depending on the contamination level of your coils, our trained technicians may use one of many options in cleaning them. For milder cleaning needs, blowing low-pressure compressed air across the fins, steam cleaning or the use of a soft bristle brush may be sufficient. Applying a plain water or mild detergent solution to the surface is another possibility, although more aggressive deposits call for the use of stronger cleaning solutions or solvents.

Another possibility is the use of a garden-type pump sprayer to apply a foaming chemical to the coil surfaces. The foam is allowed to dwell on the surface to saturate the fins, then is vacuumed away before the coil is rinsed with clean water. One of the most popular cleaning methods is to use a pressure washer. With this method, a cleaning solution is applied before the pressure rinse. Our certified craftsmen will take special precautions to avoid damaging the fins.

To clean the most-impacted coils, Affirmative Air Conditioning will use an eco-friendly, non-acidic foam solution that is biodegradable and can be safely washed down the drain.
